Travels

Edward arrived back at Grand Central Station in Victoriana Square after a long journey. He had been away for a while on business but it was good to be back home. He stepped out of the station to see the snow that was here when he left had not yet melted and he smiled. Walking accross the square passed the Golden Harp he glanced over at his shop, everything seemed ok and as he left it. Walking on down Carnegie Mews he came to number 9, he glanced up at the building, still covered in ice, then looked down at the front door. He reached into his pocket for his key and slotting it into the lock he turned it and opened the door. Home! He had never been so happy to be back indoors. The warmth of the fire hit him straight away. He went through into the kitchen where his wife was making dinner. Yes it was good to be back home but there was much to attend to. The business had to be seen to and the Yulefest ball had to be organised but he hoped that Miss Ireland had been able to do that. He must also contact the Mayor to inform him of his return, but that could all be done tomorrow, today it was time to relax and unwind after his long journey. Maybe he would tell of this sometime but now it was dinner time.

Events in Victoriana & Paperwork!

“After discussing with the Mayor Mr Lindsay about holding events in Victoriana and agreeing that the town needed a social committee to handle such events, i am going to send out a notice today to the residents to see what they think and what ideas they have. Maybe we can hold a meeting this Sunday? I will put this in the notice and see what feedback i can get. Also i have had a few replies to my job vacancy ad for a fellow photographer to come and work with me. I will need to go through the resume’s today. I also have some accountancy work on my balance sheet to perform so it seems today is about paperwork!”

Working

“Today i have been busy with some work that was commissioned of my company by a Miss Akashka Morgath. She is building a gothic type castle and wanted some custom textures for this build. I worked all day on this and have completed the task just this very minute. The reason why i mention this is because this is a turning point in my business. So far i have provided photography services and graphic design for advertising, posters, shop signs and group insignia but this is the first time i have been commissioned to make custom textures for buildings. This was a challenge that i enjoyed so i am going to start accepting more commissions like this in the future i think as it was a good days work”

Newspapers?

“I have been wondering if i should set up a newspaper for the community. A local newspaper maybe, but with a wider advertising base to fund this venture. I know there are many fine establishments around that would probably like to show their wares to a larger audience but for one reason or another are not able to. This would not only be a help to them but to the wider community with news on events and new shops etc. I will have to investigate this possibility a little more and then maybe meet with a few of the residents of Victoriana to discuss this over a few drinks at the Golden Harp”

The start of Edward George Shippe’s journey

Edward George Shippe, a normal Victorian Gent living in the game Second Life on the Victoriana Sim. He had just moved into number 9 Carnegie Mews and had managed to have all his furniture brought there and placed where he wanted it. Now he was after starting a business to help pay for this. He had rented a shop just up the street from his house at number 2 Carnegie Mews and had spent most of the day organising the various things that he needed in there to run his business. He was an Architect by trade but had begun to play around with Photography and had his own photo studio away from the city. He was able to offer a bargin profile picture service with just the backgrounds from the studio for only 100L$. He had also had experince with photoshop and could also offer a service for 200L$ which would use a custom photoshop background with the profile picture. The typical turnaround for a profile pic with photoshop was around an hour depending on what was needed.

He also offered an advertising service. He could offer shops/clubs etc the chance to advertise to over 25000 people in Second Life in groups that they had signed up for that allowed this. He was also available to give custom textures for the events and even act as a host at the events if required. More details could be found at his shop which you can find in his profile under the classifieds tab.

So now he had the house and the shop, it was time to go to work….
